CLEOPATRA goes Russia
First results of the 2007/08 field season were presented by Janne Søreide and Eva Leu at the SCAR/IASC IPY Open Science Conference in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The two CLEOPATRA postdoc's Janne Søreide and Eva Leu travelled last week to St. Petersburg, Russia in order to present the first results of the project for the international community of Polar researchers. The SCAR/IASC IPY Open Science Conference gathered approximately 1400 researchers from all over the world. Eva talked about the effect of light on the fatty acid composition of ice algae in Rijpfjorden (the abstract of her presentation can be found here), while Janne described life history traits of the key herbivore Calanus glacialis in the same location. In her talk, she combined findings from last year's field campaign in Rijpfjorden with fresh results from experimental studies on that species that she had carried out this spring. The abstract of her presentation can be found here.
